Practitioners are reminded that all QLS Member Firms[1] are provided $50,000 in complementary cyber insurance. The policy (“CyberEssentials”) is a bespoke package negotiated to meet the needs of small & mid size law firms which suffer data loss or cyber-attack. Lexon insurance covers liability to affected clients & third parties but does not fund the cost of investigations or restoring your network to a functional state. CyberEssentials fills this gap and is of critical importance to any firm which finds itself in this position.
The policy has been successfully renewed without any reduction in coverage and will apply from from 1 September 2024 – 30 August 2025.
Cover is subject to the Group Policy Limit ($50,000 per member per incident with a policy aggregate of ten million dollars) and benefits may reduce where the firm does not comply with minimum data protection obligations.
Top up cover is available, and all members are strongly encouraged to consider whether top up is appropriate for your practice. For more information see QLS Cyber Essentials Insurance
PLEASE CHECK that all “Principals”[2] have renewed QLS Membership to ensure your firm remains eligible for cover.
Full terms and conditions
The full wording of the policy, including important limits and exclusions, can be found in the previous QLS Chubb 2023 - 2024 Insurance Policy which is the same as the new 2024-2025 Policy. A copy of the new 2024-2025 Policy will be available shortly.
Only Members can view the policy schedule, and are provided the full terms on condition that the download is kept confidential, and is only shared within your firm or with its professional advisors.
[1] A Member Firm is a firm that (1) obtains their PII from Lexon and (2) in which all Principals are full or honorary QLS Members.
